My great-great grandfather was a lawman on Billy’s Island in the course of the logging of the great cypress timber in the swamps. Billy’s Island had its own city for the many lumberjacks because it was so removed from any major town. It was thought-about a tough place to reside on the time.
My g-g-grandfather was later murdered by some of these people, however that is another story. The swamp could be very lovely with many amazing animals, despite its repute as being a dreary place in some literary descriptions.
