Well, we did it! A few of you may remember we have now (effectively, *I* have) been wanting to update our kitchen island at the cabin. I thought of a few choices and was purchasing around for fabricated stone when i got here across AirStone™ on, what else, Pinterest.

AirStone™ gives this small grill a in-built look

Love how it breaks up all of the wood in this piece
Who would guess this wasn’t actual stone

So here’s our boring, blah kitchen island before AirStone™.
And here she is all prettied up.

If you’ve never heard of AirStone™, then you’re most likely questioning what it’s. Basically, it’s a manufactured stone veneer that has about 80% recycled supplies. red stone island overshirt It’s lighter than actual stone (waaaaay lighter) and is eco-friendly, which is a big plus in my e-book. Set up is super simple. You want a hacksaw, adhesive and caulking gun, or if you use the adhesive that AirStone™ sells, you’ll just want a putty knife to make use of with their adhesive. We also opted for a workbench to make cutting easier, however it’s not obligatory.

At first, I was uncertain concerning the restricted color selections. They only provide two; Spring Creek, which is primarily grey tones, and Autumn Mountain, which is more within the tan family. We opted for Autumn Mountain. I’m proud of the coloration, but I painted a small piece of leftover stone to see how it seems and sure, it’s completely paintable! I also checked their FAQ’s and they addressed this and recommend concrete stain. It’s good to know that you could customize the colours.

We began by making ready the space, overlaying the flooring, and establishing the workbench.
It took us about two hours to get so far. Not bad contemplating Fisherman seems at everything for 10 minutes earlier than adhering it. You are able to do it much faster.

Reducing was fairly straightforward on the first day. We accomplished the front only on Saturday, then Sunday did the sides. Day two was more durable as the hacksaw blade bought dull. My recommendation is have an extra blade helpful.

AirStone™ has three completely different sorts of stone tiles. Corner tiles like you see under, common area tiles and edge tiles. We would have liked all three for this undertaking, but for a lot of projects, like a straight wall for example that might meet partitions on both sides, you will solely need the field tiles.

Edited: I determined to take away the chair covers we placed on a couple of months in the past. I think the previous ones look better and never as ‘busy’.

So there you may have it, Part 1 of our kitchen updates. See the cabinet within the nook and not using a door We’re going to take out the center panel and put some glass in there as a substitute and we’ll most likely try this with the set between the fridge and the oven too. Also, we’re planning on putting some molding above the cabinets, moving the microwave to above the stove and some different decorative details while we’re at it.

What do you suppose Would you use this product, and in that case, the place
