Apple - Adult content removed from App Store

  • February 23, 2010

We don’t have an iphone, and as such know very little about them. Don’t or didn’t they have an age restriction on these (adult) apps, so anyone could download them?
==
Apple has begun removing risque iPhone and iPod Touch applications from its online App Store, including some which had previously been approved for sale, according to reports.
The new policy towards adult themed content had resulted, for example, in the deletion of applications featuring bikini models.
Apple had begun notifying application developers earlier this week that apps with "overtly sexual content" were being removed.

The conflicted life of a female porn writer

  • December 25, 2009

Kiinda funny article about a woman who started out hoping to be a successful fiction writer but who ended up being a porn writer.

I’m sure we can all relate.

I guess the article won an award or something, which just goes to show, it’s all about the fucking sex. Would the author have won an award if the story wasn’t about porn? I bet not.

http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/pornwriter/column1.html

Let me be clear about something: I never set out to become a porn writer. I set out to be a writer. Ever since I was seven, I’ve wanted to write novels and children’s books and illustrate my own work. But, as it turns out, writing fiction isn’t such an easy thing to make a living at, and along the way I stumbled off the path and wound up here, amidst the plastic-wrapped, two-for-one skin magazines. I still work on my own creative endeavors, and I’ve even had a few stories published here and there, but the only lucrative gigs I’ve ever had as a writer have been for bottom-shelf wank rags.

How did this happen? Well, I followed a pretty typical trajectory after college, casting about in a general fugue of post-B.A.-in-English angst for a few years, and then settled in New York, where writers have been losing their souls for centuries. When a friend mentioned that she knew the editor-in-chief of a sleazy porno magazine who was looking for a DVD reviewer, I figured I’d give it a try. I’d spent some time working as, among other things, a go-go dancer, a nude art model, and an amateur Sex and the City expert, and hell, I’d seen my fair share of internet porn. It was something I had never felt particularly proud of watching, but I saw nothing wrong with pornography; I’d read it was as old as the cave paintings. Part of the human condition. As a practical, if not exactly radical, feminist, I did have a moment’s hesitation about becoming part of an industry notorious for its exploitation of women. But then again, as a feminist, I should be willing to support the right of women to do whatever they wanted with their lives, minds, and bodies, right? If they decided to have sex on camera, I would support their decisions, and make a buck out of reviewing their work. And, hell, I was broke. So why not?
Shortly thereafter, I found myself in a maze of dimly lit hallways called an office in flip-flops and shorts ("Doesn’t matter how you’re dressed," he’d said on the phone, "this is a porn office. Just stop by."). Within a half hour, having met a few of the tattooed and jaded individuals running the operation, I was handed a box packed with some of the filthiest magazines I had ever seen and a double-disc set of a XXX film called Something-or-Other "ASSault." Within a week I’d written my first porn review, had it approved for publication, and was hired as a freelance reviewer. I was officially "in" the skin biz.

China Throws A Bounty On Pornsites Appearing In Chinese Cyberspace

  • December 15, 2009

http://www.ynot.com/modules.php?op=m…icle&sid=51138
In what I call censorship to the extreme, the Chinese government is taking great lengths to keep porn away from Chinese cyberspace. They have announced that they will pay Chinese surfers 10,000 yuan (about $1,500) when they find a porn site in their Internet.
In a desperate attempt to keep their image squeaky clean (yeah, right), I think this is one half-assed way to alienate legitimate Western businesses who have ties with porn. But then again, I suppose these businesses will be too blinded by the money that they are willing to turn a blind eye on this slight.

How very Cultural Revolution of them. The only thing missing now is Mao Tse Tung.

2-in-1 Galleries do any better?

  • December 6, 2009

I’m thinking of creating galleries with 30-40 pics instead of the usual 16. I would feature either a single girl or two. Basically combining 2 galleries I would normally submit separately.
I noticed several galleries (particularly at thehun) that have more than 16 pics.
What about combining pics and movies?
I suppose I could just try it and see what happens, but wanted your feedback.
Thanks.

Ok. So. Porn these days…

  • December 6, 2009

Does it still sell? I did the tgp/free site thing about ten years ago. Made some decent sales, enough to supplement my day job income.
Now, we’ve hit a rough patch and I am dipping my toes in the water again, hoping to supplement the family income until the husband’s latest indie screenplay finally goes into production, and until his breakout screenplay finally gets noticed by the big studios…
Basically, I’m looking to do some galleries and free sites. It’s been a long while. What’s it like out there for the adult marketers?

Another “Age Verification” act ===> BS

  • December 1, 2009

Here we go again.
I thought the supreme court put this to rest years ago.
So basically they want the payment processors to deny processing to websites unless you can prove the surfers ages.
And of course there is no mention of how a website operator is supposed to determine the ages of the surfers. I guess we could hope for RFID technolgy with retina scanning, and match against some government database. But, that would pretty much require everybody on the planet to submit to big brother style tracking.
I’m hoping that the ACLU, EFF, and FSC step up and bitch slap them before the bill even starts to process.
BTW, penalties: 10 years prison, conspiracy charges, forfeiture provisions, racketeering charges.
Quote: H.R. 4059: Online Age Verification and Child Safety Act
To enhance Internet safety and security and to prevent exploitation of children online through the use of technology.
(1) IN GENERAL- It is unlawful for an operator of any website accessible by any computer located within the United States to carry out any financial transaction relating to any product or service whose sale or access to persons under a legally specified age is prohibited by law, without first verifying that each user attempting to carry out the transaction meets the legally required age limitation, consistent with the regulations prescribed under subsection (c).

Traffic from gfy?

  • November 15, 2009

I can’t trace this down, but I’m getting traffic from the gfy forum. There’s no search function in gfy and the pages they are hitting on my site don’t have any gfy links. I’m seeing 60+ hits per day on several pages. I tried google inurl, no luck. My logs just show "showthread" for the url. I’ve exhausted my detective skills.
Maybe chameleon submitting something to the gfy? I can’t find anything in the chameleon logs.
I never heard of the gfy till I started reviewing my referral stat logs. My account their has been sitting in moderation for days now, so I can’t post anything and ask someone there.
Thanks.

where did all my submitters go?

  • November 7, 2009

I was mad about some things and I did think about leaving the LL biz

my LL are not for sale, I cant edit my sig so fuck it

I hit the jackpot with G so you are missing out on 17k traffic on my LL and it looks like it will stay awhile

look and greenies main page I made his top list, and i can tell you that you need a bunch of traffic to make it

I delete a lot of submissions cause of garbage and keyword recips
you submitters lost touch with things, and turned to auto submitting software to get as much out as possible during this hard times
thats how those shit recips get put on shit pages

those LL that use those recips are the some of the people we dont want to submitt to

to get listed on my LL - build a good index with no keyword recips and auto subitted trash

I need submitters NOW and I want all the best from this board to submit, I’ll take a simple text link to my index and use different xxx keyword every once and a while if your gonna submitt with a single cat recip

before i had to many submitters I lost some, but the good submitters i still have are submitting, and they always have me grouped with the biggest LL’s

I need more, bring them on
