There is a legal battle happening right now that has to do with the owners of the patent for webcam technology and the blue chip companies who have started using the technology as their own.
The courts have responded by revising the patent meant to pacify both parties. This might be a long and dragged in case that can affect the burgeoning webcam industry.
What is your take on this and should adult webcam companies be concerned about this case?
Quote: MARSHALL, Texas ? The holding company that is suing 12 adult live-cam operators over the alleged use of its patent amended and narrowed its complaint on Tuesday.
Joao Control and Monitoring Systems claims the companies are allegedly infringing on U.S. Patent No. 7,277,010 by making, using or selling video monitoring and communications apparatus that authorizes surfers to view live streaming video using usernames and passwords.
According to the amended complaint, Joao’s patent relates to (1) receiving video information with a processing device, (2) receiving a signal from a communication device with the processing device, (3) processing the received signal, (4) determining whether transmission of the video information to the communication device is authorized, and (5) transmitting the video information to the communication device over the Internet if it is determined that the communication device is authorized.
The infringement suit, filed in November, targets such blue-chip brands as Playboy Enterprises, Penthouse Media Group, LFP Internet Group, FriendFinder?s Steamray Inc., Vivid Entertainment, Playboy’s ClubJenna unit, Anabolic Video Productions, Evil Angel Productions, New Destiny Internet Group, Shane Enterprises and Private Media Group?s GameLink.

I just got this email from Twisty’s:
Quote: Hey everyone,
For anyone who receives their payouts in check/cheque, we would request that you do not try to deposit them. There appears to be an issue with WebmasterChecks and the US Dept of Justice. If you want faster payment, please send us your check/cheques and we will gladly send out hand written checks and or epassporte payments to all affiliates who cannot deposit their payments. We will certainly cover the fee for epassporte or any returned checks/cheques.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience in this matter. Anyone have any other info? Webmaster Checks pays for a lot of programs - we could have checks being returned left & right

We don’t have an iphone, and as such know very little about them. Don’t or didn’t they have an age restriction on these (adult) apps, so anyone could download them?
==
Apple has begun removing risque iPhone and iPod Touch applications from its online App Store, including some which had previously been approved for sale, according to reports.
The new policy towards adult themed content had resulted, for example, in the deletion of applications featuring bikini models.
Apple had begun notifying application developers earlier this week that apps with "overtly sexual content" were being removed.

Kiinda funny article about a woman who started out hoping to be a successful fiction writer but who ended up being a porn writer.
I’m sure we can all relate.
I guess the article won an award or something, which just goes to show, it’s all about the fucking sex. Would the author have won an award if the story wasn’t about porn? I bet not.
http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/pornwriter/column1.html
Let me be clear about something: I never set out to become a porn writer. I set out to be a writer. Ever since I was seven, I’ve wanted to write novels and children’s books and illustrate my own work. But, as it turns out, writing fiction isn’t such an easy thing to make a living at, and along the way I stumbled off the path and wound up here, amidst the plastic-wrapped, two-for-one skin magazines. I still work on my own creative endeavors, and I’ve even had a few stories published here and there, but the only lucrative gigs I’ve ever had as a writer have been for bottom-shelf wank rags.
How did this happen? Well, I followed a pretty typical trajectory after college, casting about in a general fugue of post-B.A.-in-English angst for a few years, and then settled in New York, where writers have been losing their souls for centuries. When a friend mentioned that she knew the editor-in-chief of a sleazy porno magazine who was looking for a DVD reviewer, I figured I’d give it a try. I’d spent some time working as, among other things, a go-go dancer, a nude art model, and an amateur Sex and the City expert, and hell, I’d seen my fair share of internet porn. It was something I had never felt particularly proud of watching, but I saw nothing wrong with pornography; I’d read it was as old as the cave paintings. Part of the human condition. As a practical, if not exactly radical, feminist, I did have a moment’s hesitation about becoming part of an industry notorious for its exploitation of women. But then again, as a feminist, I should be willing to support the right of women to do whatever they wanted with their lives, minds, and bodies, right? If they decided to have sex on camera, I would support their decisions, and make a buck out of reviewing their work. And, hell, I was broke. So why not?
Shortly thereafter, I found myself in a maze of dimly lit hallways called an office in flip-flops and shorts ("Doesn’t matter how you’re dressed," he’d said on the phone, "this is a porn office. Just stop by."). Within a half hour, having met a few of the tattooed and jaded individuals running the operation, I was handed a box packed with some of the filthiest magazines I had ever seen and a double-disc set of a XXX film called Something-or-Other "ASSault." Within a week I’d written my first porn review, had it approved for publication, and was hired as a freelance reviewer. I was officially "in" the skin biz.

In what I call censorship to the extreme, the Chinese government is taking great lengths to keep porn away from Chinese cyberspace. They have announced that they will pay Chinese surfers 10,000 yuan (about $1,500) when they find a porn site in their Internet.
In a desperate attempt to keep their image squeaky clean (yeah, right), I think this is one half-assed way to alienate legitimate Western businesses who have ties with porn. But then again, I suppose these businesses will be too blinded by the money that they are willing to turn a blind eye on this slight.
How very Cultural Revolution of them. The only thing missing now is Mao Tse Tung.
