How much does the average company spend obtaining a new webmaster?

  • January 31, 2008

If you are a manager/owner & allowed to release that information please do.

I’m curious if there is a large difference between obtaining a dating webmaster & a porn webmaster.

If you think you might have an idea on the issue then spit it out, no matter your position!

WTF is a PEEL AD?

  • January 31, 2008

Peel ads are an easy way to add an extra advertising spot to any website!
All of our peel ads only take a small portion of the top right of the page
when inactive, and only peel when a surfer moves their mouse over it
revealing a larger advertisement with your affiliate code embedded in the
link. We have several types of peel ads available for you to select from:

1. Overall Nude & Non-Nude Peel Ads: These peel ads rotate every fifteen
minutes and allow you to promote several sites at once without having to
switch out several different codes. This gives you a greater opportunity for
a sale on diverse traffic. These peel ads also automatically update with new
ads when they are added to our system.

2. Rotating Site Specific Peel Ads: These peel ads will only rotate ads from
the specific site you select. If Kate’s Playground has 10 peel ads
available, it will rotate between all 10 ads + all future Kate’s Playground
ads when they are added to our system.

3. Specific Peel Ads: These peel ads are static and never change their
appearance, however you can modify the URL the peel ad sends to. For example
you could send traffic from the peel ad to a gallery you are hosting, one of
our FHGs / VHGs, directly to the tour, or directly to our join pages.

We have 45 currently with more coming soon.

To see the peel ads in action & get your linking codes, go to
click site and look at upper right hand corner

here is what it would look like in action:

Go Fuck Yourself Webmaster Forums: Crooked Leadership

  • January 31, 2008

The adult industry has many discussion forums, one of the most popular ones is called “Go Fuck Yourself”, or “GFY” for short. The forum can be found at gfy.com, gofuckyourself.com and several other domains. GFY is owned by ICS Entertainment, Inc. which is the front for the illustrious Playboy Enterprises. Yes, that’s THE Playboy. You know, cute little black and white bunny, lots of money, etc.

GFY charges lots of money for advertising on its site. To become a top banner sponsor, it will cost you about $1,000 per month. Putting your custom skin on the board will set you back anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 per week, depending on whose estimates you believe. There are some other advertising options as well. While no one knows for sure, its generally accepted by most that GFY makes in excess of $1 million a year in advertising revenue from the site, nearly all of it profit. After all, there is not much expense to operating a forum. GFY loves to protect the reputation of it’s top banner sponsors and they will take money from anyone who offers to send it to them - including Adult Revenue Service.

Within 24 hours of having posted our first two turds on that site, which happened to be on the subject of Adult Revenue Service - the user account of the person who posted them was banned at the request of an ARS represenative who disliked the report and felt they were unfair to his company. GFY is primarily moderated by Eric Mathis, an ICS Employee. This guy is a complete asshole and a liar. When he banned me from the site, he refused to answer any messages asking for his reasoning or what rule was violated, but he did paste the messages I sent to the ARS representative, so I know he was sitting right there.
The GFY Rules state as follows:Q: Someone really pissed me off. I want to slam them on the board. Is this cool?
A: First off make sure you have substance to do so. Show some proof. We all want to know who is dirty. And lets keep it Mono y Mono, leave the innocent bystanders out of the fray.
GFY does like to know who is dirty - as long as the dirty party is not also an advertiser on their board. If they are not an advertiser - you can post almost anything you want - even if it is not true. Many an innocent company has had their reputations put through the ringer and GFY’s so-called moderators did nothing to stop it. GFY’s advertising opportunities are very similar to the Mafia’s protection racket. You are not really paying for the advertisement as much as you are paying for protection. Most users have advertisements blocked through the use of various Firefox extensions and its well known that most ads on GFY do not get many clicks.

Daily FREE Traffic Tips

  • January 31, 2008

I’ll be posting daily traffic tips here. While most of these tips apply to mainstream, they can be tweaked to apply to adult site marketing as well.

WARNING: I don’t claim to be a SUPER expert in traffic (although I do run the old traffic blog http://justtraffic.blogspot.com ), so take everything with a grain of salt. I’m sure many of you are more expert at this material than myself. This thread is just my attempt at trying to GIVE SOMETHING BACK to the community and help fellow webmasters. All CONSTRUCTIVE comments would be greatly welcome.

Here’s tip #1:

Always view and analyze your traffic logs. Assuming that you’ve put in SOME effort promoting your site, there will be SOME traffic going to your site already. I use Google Analytics but there’s many other free counters/stats programs out there.

Figure out which sites send you traffic. Ask the following questions:

How much traffic are they sending?
Where on their page are they sending traffic from?
What keywords are they using to send traffic to me?

Some tips:

LESS can sometimes be MORE

If a "general niche" site is sending you traffic through a niche keyword, you need to seize this opportunity by determining how "sticky" the traffic is (ie., is that stream of traffic sticking around your site or do they just enter and leave immediately?)

If you’re getting non-sticky traffic but get quite a bit of it, try changing the target page to something more relevant to the niche. Keep tweaking until the time spent by the user on your site increases.

Less can be more if your site acts as an effective site for targeted terms/traffic. Sometimes, rifle shots achieve more (with higher $ per click) than shotgun blasts.

If a "specific niche" site is sending you traffic, pay careful attention to the keyword links on that site that are sending you traffic. Some may be longtail keywords that you’d like to build specific pages for.

Next post: Analyzing traffic source sites further and some tips/tricks.
