2 Things every webmaster should know

anyway here is my advise and what I would do for you (all affiliates) but your special, you are asking for help when mostly webmasters put up your links and expect big conversions and HUGE payouts… but the truth is unless you have the ability to Review your referring log file to see what your traffic is looking for you will never know…

to help improve ones conversions; one needs to review your referring log files and target the traffic needs of your site.

example: I had an affiliate that was sending in traffic and converting ok; but then I reviewed the referring logs and noticed search terms like ‘gay porn’ and reviewed his xondemand ppv theater and saw that alot of gay movies were being watched…

now I haveto explain this to the affiliate and target more gay movies on the home page of his ppv theater… he told me that he always thought he had more gay traffic but was never sure; so the moral of the story is never understand what traffic you have until you do 2 things.

1. Provide every movie niche to your surfers and customers and see what gets watched; target those movies on your landing pages. (gay,lesbian,fetish etc)

2. Review your referring website log files and target your traffic with niche movie they are looking for;

Just got this from my lawyer…

… Majority on partially divided three-judge Sixth Circuit panel strikes down as facially unconstitutional the recordkeeping requirements federal criminal law places on producers of images of "actual sexually explicit conduct" to verify the ages of those depicted in the images: Describing the federal statute at issue, the majority opinion explains, "The plain text, the purpose, and the legislative history of the statute make clear that Congress was concerned with all child pornography and considered recordkeeping important in battling all of it, without respect to the creator’s motivation." The majority proceeds to hold the statute facially overbroad and then strikes down the law as unconstitutional. You can access today’s ruling at this link.

Even the dissenting judge agrees that the statute is overbroad, but he believes that judicial narrowing of the statute can save it from being unconstitutional.

This decision is a significant First Amendment ruling that directly implicates the controversial subjects of legal adult pornography and illegal child pornography. I expect that the ruling will receive plenty of attention.

News From Fleshlight Affiliate Program

In August of 2006, Fleshlight Cash announced a program which would use NATS to provide our affiliates with an interface to which they were accustomed despite the fact that the software was not designed for use with sites offering a tangible product (versus a membership or subscription service). Over the last year, we have worked closely with staff at Too Much Media in an attempt to improve functionality for our affiliates. However, after much discussion, we decided to develop new affiliate software expressly designed for use with our sites and which would provide an improved interface for a tangible product program. We are excited to announce that the months of development are almost complete and we’ll be announcing the launch of our new program, FN Cash, in the coming weeks. The system we designed will offer the following features:

• FN Cash will offer support to our affiliates to promote all the sites in our network, including: fleshlight.com, fleshjack.com and fleshlightgirls.com. We also have plans to launch a new site geared exclusively toward the female market (to be announced).

• Tracking has been substantially improved. Affiliates will be able to see where the sales came from, when, and what products were purchased. We feel that this is a significant improvement which will provide affiliates with greater visibility and create the ability to target certain product pages.

• A robust and full featured marketing collateral library with updated banners in multiple sizes, photo sets, landing pages, and hi-res images.

• Desktop dashboards will give affiliates real-time information on their traffic and sales, including each order’s status from ‘pending’ to ’shipped.’

• Accuracy and assurance of accuracy are greatly improved since we’re using software strictly built for our product as opposed to NATS that was built for subscription sites.

• Improved responsiveness. Bringing the application in house ensures that fixes and add-ons can be added quickly and designed to meet the needs of our affiliate sales team. The new structure ensures that our energy is focused on the most relevant issues that will benefit the majority of our affiliate sales team.

• Once a customer purchases a product from your referral link and creates an account, subsequent sales placed by that customer are credited to your account as well (not currently available).

Effective immediately (for use TODAY with our current affiliate program) we’ve extended the cookie life from three to 60 days.

Our affiliate support team will begin posting current issues, upcoming features and websites and respond to affiliate questions/concerns/suggestions on a daily basis. We sincerely apologize for our lack of communication and/or issues which were mishandled over the course of this last year. We will be working hard to give our affiliates the tools necessary to effectively promote our program and repair any damage to our relationship, both past and present.
We would also like to take this opportunity to announce that both CT and Josh have moved on and are no longer working with Fleshlight Cash. We wish them well with their future endeavors.

Anyone else see sales take a dive in the last week or so?

After they had database tuning there for a day or two, my sales and even my traffic seems to have dropped. The sales more so than the traffic. Anyone else notice this?
